Hadrian’s Wall 2023

I am writing this blog after dinner in bed with my feet up on pillows.

It really was a huge day distance wise, about 23 k but those pesky hills( crags) persisted again today.

I cannot complain really, they are high and very steep but the rewards of spectacular views and still so much of the wall and the forts to be seen.
We visited Housestead fort, which again was wonderful. A bit bigger than birdoswold.

And also loads of turrets that are dotted along the wall.

We visited the famous sycamore gap and tree. This has nothing to do with Hadrian’s wall but rather it was made famous by Kevin Costner in Robin Hood prince of thieves.

The afternoon didn’t end, well it did eventually obviously but we didn’t arrive in chollerton until about 5 pm.
Our new friends Danny and his dad John were already there and quickly supplied us with dirty beers.

Shower dinner and that brings you to where I am now.😁
